Dutch Pea Soup

1 cup whole dried peas and 1 cup split dried peas (do not have to cover with water overnight first.)
1/2 - 1 onion, diced
1 ring Pella bologna, diced
10 cups water (or more)
1 tablespoon parsley
1 cup potatoes, diced
1 cup carrots, diced
1-1/2 cups celery, diced
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon salt

Mix all ingredients together. Cover and put in oven at 350 degrees for 5 hours.

Dutch Spiced Cookies

2 cups brown sugar
1-1/2 cups softened butter
1 beaten egg
3-1/2 cups flour
2-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/3 teaspoon ground cloves
1/3 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon soda, dissolved in a little water

Cream the sugar and butter together. Add the egg. Add the dry ingredients. Roll into walnut-sized balls, roll in sugar, and place on a cookie sheet. Press down with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 to 12 minutes.
