Tulip Tea Room Presents Mother/Daughter Tea and Book Discussion

The TulipTea Room in Pella is a featured tearoom in the book Under the Tea Leaves- Reflections of a Mother-Daughter Journey. Authors Sheryl Van Weelden and Sherry Borzo will be at the Tulip Tea Room for a mother/daughter 3-course tea event on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. Sheryl and Sherry will share their story of creating the book which chronicles the thoughts and feelings of a mother and daughter in a series of essays involving their unique relationship.

Under the Tea Leaves is a unique collection of writings and shared conversations from two connected but distinctly separate voices of a mother and daughter who explore the issues of building and maintaining a positive and loving relationship as they age and learn to understand each other. Along the way they gain a better understanding of themselves as well as sip tea in the beautiful tearooms of Iowa. Sheryl and Sherry examine topics such as traditions, aging, work, and the choices of two different generations. They make appointments to enjoy delicious food, decadently rich desserts, pots of brewed tea, and conversation while sampling the local tearoom phenomenon.

One of Iowa’s finest tea establishments, the Tulip Tea Room at 918 Main Street in Pella is a featured location in the book. Reservations are required for this special Mother/Daughter Tea event and can be made by calling 641-620-9036.

Books will be available at Tulip Tea Room and an autographed copy will be given away in a drawing for the attendees.

Sherry Borzo is a graduate of Drake University, who lives in Des Moines. Sheryl Van Weelden is a graduate of Central College who grew up in Lynnville, and now lives in Des Moines.
