Senate Republicans Announce Committee Appointments for 2012 Session
Job creation, property tax relief, responsible budgeting and real education reform remain caucus priorities
DES MOINES – Senate Republican Leader Jerry Behn (R-Boone) today announced the Senate Republican committee assignments for the 2012 legislative session, which is set to commence on Monday, January 9, 2012.
“Senate Republicans believe this upcoming session must be about private sector job creation, broad-based property tax relief, responsible budgeting and real education reform and we intend to aggressively promote that pro-growth agenda every day,” said Behn.
While most of the committee appointments remain unchanged from the 2011 session, the following changes have been made:
* Senator Bill Anderson (R-Pierson) will serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce Committee
* Senator Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) will serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Ways & Means Committee
* Sen. Kent Sorenson (R-Indianola) will serve as Ranking Member of the Senate State Government Committee
* Senator Bill Dix (R-Shell Rock) will serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Committee
* Senator Paul McKinley (R-Chariton) will serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Ethics Committee
* Sen. R. Leader Jerry Behn (R-Boone) will serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Rules and Admin. Comm.
* Senator Rick Bertrand (R-Sioux City) will serve on the Senate Commerce Committee
* Senator Joni Ernst (R-Red Oak) will serve on the Senate Natural Resources and Environment Committee
* Senator Mark Chelgren (R-Ottumwa) will serve on the Senate State Government Committee
