Sell or Buy: Formal Dress Consignment Event
You've been to the office Chrismas or New Year's Eve party, or a wedding, and don't plan on ever wearing again that lovely dress. (What would be the point if you were to be with the same people again at the next Christmas or New Year's party?) Perhaps you need a prom dress or mother-of-the-bride dress and don't particularly want to spend $435 (low end) for a single-event dress.
This is just the event you need! Friday, January 27 from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 29 from 8:00 am. to 4:00 p.m., the Pella Opera House is hosting a " Sell That Dress Formal Attire Consignment Event." Just come in and browse those hours and find a great buy for that next special event.
Or, set the price of the item you wish to sell, (remembering that there will be a 25% consignment fee if it sells, but only if it sells) and bring it to the Opera House Thursday from noon till 8:00 p.m. or Friday morning until the sale starts at noon.
If your item doesn't sell, you owe nothing. You may pick up unsold items on Saturday between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m., or you can donate the item to the "Green Dress Project," a non-profit organization in Oskaloosa "designed for families who want to save money this year on prom dresses for their girls. We want to make sure that any girl who wants to attend Prom is able to - and look beautiful doing it!" (Green Dress contact information: 201 Trueblood Avenue, Oskaloosa, IA 52577,641-673-1047.)
There is also an optional donation to the Pella Dollars for Scholars program on sold items.
