As soon as we checked in on the first day, we had to take a swimming test in the pool. Last year the pool was a lot cooler than this year! After supper, a raccoon kept trying to get our food from our picnic table, but we always scared it away The first night, there were high winds and thunderstorm warnings, so we had to stay in the shelter house until after midnight. While we were there, the staff made up funny songs to sing. On the way back to our campsite, in the middle of the night, there were some pretty big frogs in the puddles, but they were too fast to catch. The rain came down in sheets overnight, and the next morning everything was soaked.

At camp, we got to shoot BB guns and bows and arrows. Colton scored best with BB guns and Caleb scored best with bow and arrows. Our campsite looked over the mighty Mississippi River and we saw a lot of cool barges. We went canoeing in some backwaters, and they tied two canoes together with rope, for safety. We also went fishing, and everyone tried to catch the huge catfish that the staff members named “Jabba.” He has broken 17 fishing lines so far!

On the last night, each den put on their own skit and the staff members also put on a funny play at the fire ring. There was also a demonstration from a local pack showing the clothing worn by ancient Indians from that area.

Camp Eastman was a lot of fun! We want to go there next year as Boy Scouts!!!!
