SUPER BOWL
Passion to succeed unique to Americans
The New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl. So what, you might say. But, look again. Winning is not something that is particular to New Orleans. It is something that ingrains every single person in America. Americans never expect to lose. Oh, yes, we do lose, but not without a fight. And, stepping back, not without the expectation that there will be another contest tomorrow and then "we" will prevail. Oh, yes, that is America on steroids. We do not lose - at anything! Just give us an even playing field and we'll play. Just give us something with reasonable rules and we'll play.
A city is destroyed by a hurricane; we rush to revive it. A country is destroyed by an earthquake; we rush to rebuild it. Who are we? We are those people that no other country wanted. Our religious beliefs were not acceptable. We were the wrong color. We needed work. We were poor. We had nothing - but the desire, the overwhelming compulsion to succeed, in the face of any obstacle, anything that God, or man, could put in our path, because we are Americans.
We are special. We know we are special. We do not quit. We stand to a higher standard. We are Americans! And the rest of the world wishes that they could all be Americans, too.
