Pregnancy Care Center

The Pregnancy Care Center is designed to help young women and their families before, during and after pregnancy.

The before part includes free pregnancy tests, options education, abstinence counseling, relationship counseling, and information regarding other services available to our clients, such as legal aid, housing, medical help, and social services. We spend time with each client who comes for a test. We discuss their current relationship, what their plans are for the future, what they are thinking regarding the potential pregnancy.

This is also the time when we can share information with them regarding the risks of being sexually active and the importance of abstinence. We have seen several teenagers, the youngest of whom was in eighth grade. Most of the young girls really haven’t given much thought to the consequences of their behavior. We hope by listening and gently explaining the importance of abstinence and the risks they face, that they will choose a more positive lifestyle. By covering many issues we seek to help direct the women and teens we see in a positive direction, one that will lead to a healthy, productive life.

We have had the opportunity to work with young women throughout their pregnancy, counseling with them on making the best choice for them. Though we do not deal with the actual adoption, we are available for ongoing counseling throughout the entire process. If the young woman chooses to parent, we encourage her to come on a regular basis to explore the parenting process and become better prepared for parenting.

The Pregnancy Care Center believes that life begins at conception. With this in mind, we want to provide accurate information to our clients regarding abortion, medical risks, and the emotional impact abortion may have. We give instruction on fetal development and various abortion procedures. The PCC does not refer for abortion, and hope by giving clients accurate and complete information regarding all choices, that they will be able to make a positive, informed choice. No matter what they decide, our door is open to them for continued support.

Many of the women we see are already pregnant and come for material assistance. Because of the generosity of the community, we are able to provide maternity clothes, baby clothes, cribs, car seats, strollers, diapers, formula, and many other items.

The opportunity to minister to these young women who have made the choice for life is another aspect of the center. We have developed ongoing relationships with many women, becoming a listening ear, providing insight into parenting, and just being a friend.

The Pregnancy Care Center offers post-abortion counseling. This program provides those who have chosen abortion an avenue for healing.

The staff and volunteers at the Pregnancy Care Center truly want to be available before, during and after the pregnancy.
